Straighter teeth at any age, with clear aligners or metal braces.
Your £155 assessment fee comes off your treatment price. If you go ahead with private treatment after your private assessment, we take the £155 you paid off the total cost of your braces or aligners. On our payment plan, the £155 comes off your £900 deposit, so you pay a £745 deposit and your monthly payments stay the same. This does not apply to the cross-border (HSE) scheme.
It is never too late
There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment. As long as your teeth and gums are healthy, teeth can be moved at any age.
Many adults come to us because they did not have braces as a child, because their teeth have moved over the years, or because crowding or gaps have started to bother them.
Your care is provided by our orthodontic team: orthodontic therapists, our dentist with enhanced skills in orthodontics, Dr Méabh Maguire, and our specialist orthodontist, Dr William Maguire.

Clear aligners
Thin, clear, removable trays that move your teeth a little at a time. We use Smartee aligners. You wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day and take them out to eat and clean your teeth.

Small brackets fixed to your teeth and joined by a wire. Fixed braces work all the time, so you do not need to remember to wear them.

About metal bracesThe orthodontist will explain which options suit your teeth at your assessment. Not everyone is suitable for aligners.
Fitting treatment around your life
- Aligners are less noticeable than fixed metal braces, and you take them out for meals. They only work if you wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day.
- Fixed braces are usually checked every 8 to 10 weeks. Treatment usually takes around 18 to 24 months, but this varies.
- Keep seeing your own dentist for check-ups during treatment.
Keeping your teeth straight
Teeth can move at any age. After treatment, you will need to wear retainers every night while you sleep (8 to 10 hours), for as long as you want straight teeth. Replacement retainers cost £105 each, or £210 for upper and lower.

Am I too old for braces?
No. There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment. Your teeth and gums need to be healthy before treatment starts.
How much do adult braces cost in Belfast?
Private metal braces and Smartee clear aligners cost the same at our clinic. The price depends on complexity: from £2,900 for super mild cases, from £3,900 for moderate cases and from £4,900 for complex cases. You can spread the cost over 12 months: a £900 deposit, then the rest in 12 monthly payments (a £150 plan fee is added to the balance and spread across your monthly payments).
Do I need a referral from my dentist?
Not for private treatment. You can refer yourself using our self-referral form. Health service (NHS) treatment needs a referral from your dentist.
My teeth have moved since I had braces as a teenager. Can you help?
Yes, adults can have treatment again to straighten teeth that have moved. The orthodontist will explain your options and the fee at your assessment. Afterwards, wearing retainers for life helps stop it happening again.
Do you offer clear braces?
We offer Smartee clear aligners, which are removable and less noticeable than fixed metal braces. They are a private treatment. See clear aligners.
