Rapid teen assessment
Skip the waiting list for your child’s orthodontic assessment.
Your £155 assessment fee comes off your treatment price. If you go ahead with private treatment after your private assessment, we take the £155 you paid off the total cost of your braces or aligners. On our payment plan, the £155 comes off your £900 deposit, so you pay a £745 deposit and your monthly payments stay the same. This does not apply to the cross-border (HSE) scheme.
If your child has been referred by their dentist, they will get a free assessment to see if they are eligible for health service (NHS) orthodontic treatment. The wait for this assessment is usually 6–12 months, then 3–6 months to start treatment, depending on the case.
Self-refer for a rapid assessment
Want the assessment sooner?
You can self-refer, or your dentist can refer your child, and pay privately for the assessment, so it happens sooner. The rapid assessment costs £155.
Two appointments in one. It combines your records appointment and your treatment planning appointment in one visit, because you meet the orthodontist at your Rapid Teen Assessment and get both done.
At the assessment, we check your child’s teeth and bite and explain whether they are likely to be eligible for health service treatment, and what their options are.
Please note: paying for a rapid assessment does not make your child more likely to get health service treatment. Eligibility is decided in exactly the same way. It simply means you skip the waiting list for the assessment.
What happens next?
- If your child is eligible for health service treatment, we will explain what happens next. This may include joining a waiting list for treatment.
- If your child’s needs are too mild for health service funding, we can tell you about private treatment options if you are interested.
- If your child is not ready yet (for example, adult teeth still coming through), we may see them again later.
To book, send us a self-referral, ask your dentist to refer your child (choosing “Rapid Teen Assessment” on our dentist referral form), or call us on 028 9045 1303. For anything else, ask your clinician during your appointment.
