Private treatment: questions parents ask
Clear answers to help you decide.
Your £155 assessment fee comes off your treatment price. If you go ahead with private treatment after your private assessment, we take the £155 you paid off the total cost of your braces or aligners. On our payment plan, the £155 comes off your £900 deposit, so you pay a £745 deposit and your monthly payments stay the same. This does not apply to the cross-border (HSE) scheme.
Can we switch from the health service waiting list to private treatment?
Yes. You can choose private treatment at any time. Just let us know.
Does paying privately affect health service eligibility?
No. Eligibility is decided by your child’s IOTN score only. Paying privately never changes it.
Aligners or braces?
We offer metal braces and Smartee clear aligners. Aligners are less noticeable than fixed metal braces but must be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, and never left out for more than 30 minutes at a time. Your clinician will advise which suits your child’s teeth.
What is included?
Two sets of retainers are included, and aligner refinements are included. Extractions (done by your own dentist) and later replacement retainers are not included.
Do they need retainers?
Yes – retainers are worn every night, for life, to keep teeth straight. See retainers.
Can we pay monthly?
Yes: a £900 deposit, then the rest in 12 monthly payments. A £150 plan fee is added to the balance and spread across your monthly payments.
Is there a sibling or parent offer?
Yes. Any sibling or parent of one of our patients who wants private treatment gets 10% off. Free assessment offer: if you are a parent or sibling of someone currently in health service (NHS) or private treatment with us, we are offering you a free private assessment (usually £155). Everyone is assessed separately. See our sibling or parent offer.
Do we keep our health service place?
Yes. If your child is on the health service waiting list, they keep their place while you decide.
Under 18? Under-18s offer: private braces or Smartee aligners cost £2,900 (usually £3,900). See costs.
